It's a Wrap

It's late, but she's hot off the needles, ends woven in, ready to block (I'm going to spin it in my "I can spin delicates safely" washing machine, but I'm not worried--much).

"Can you believe she's going to make me, the Aran POCKET Shawl, without pockets? It's a travesty of knitting! I'm made of 50% alpaca yarn! I don't deserve such an indignity! My poor nerves! She has no consideration for my poor nerves!" Aran Pocket Shawl.

I am so glad this knit is off the needles! I knit seven repeats this weekend just to finish her up. I like the shawl, but it's one big rectangle. Now, for just a little attitude adjustment on the shawl's part (50% alpaca?!--has it not seen the 100% suri alpaca in my stash?). Well, it's nothing that a good blocking can't straighten out. Pattern notes to follow. Now I can go back to my pink sock. Yay! And my Victorian lace. Yay! And my barely cast on jacket. Yay! Yays all around!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

It's lovely!! Good luck on the delicates cycle - I don't think I'd be brave enough to do that with alpaca...

Very nice. Bet it feels good to finish it. I have almost forgotten what it feels like, to finish a project, except for first socks.

Beautiful shawl! The color is so lovely. Is it still chilly enough to wear it? And I love that your shawl has the voice of Mrs. Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. :)

Although she is a bit of a prima donna, your Aran Shawl is quite lovely!

Very pretty shawl. And was the shawl channeling Mrs. Bennett from Pride and Prejudice there?

Pretty shawl! I was in Davis this weekend - watched the parade in the rain, but under the cover in front of the newsstand. I reconnected with Molly at In Sheep's Clothing, but Knitter's Playground was closed on Sunday. =(

Aran Pocket Shawl -- get over yourself! You're lucky she knit you at all. There are plenty of other things she could have worked on, but no, she chose you. So, get over it and feel lucky you exist at all!!

There, Brenda, I hope APS feels a little guilty about yelling at you like that. You do not deserve it ;)

Anyway, RE the Eris Zipper scenario: I bought my zippers from Zipperstop. I've used Zipperstop for years. They just don't have the pale, soft green I need. Nothing even comes close :(

Thanks for thinking of me!

This looks absolutely fantastic! What a great texture, and the colour makes it look so elegant and unique! Congratulations!

That's a mighty nice-lookin' shawl. It is a little remenicient of Sally Melville's Collared Wrap from the Purl Stitch. I used Misti Alpaca worsted in about the same colour as yours; I love it to pieces. No fringe, no bobbles, nothing to get caught in the door. It was a little tedious towards the end, but at least I could watch tv while I worked on it. You'll get lots of use out of it! Enjoy!

I popped over here - from Wendy's or Brigitte's site, I forget which - out of curiosity about something, and saw that you're in Davis. How cool! I went to school in Davis. (Of course, that was more years ago than I will admit to, now.)

I also almost became a biochemist, only fighting with the pre-meds and pre-vets in 194Chem didn't appeal to me. Nice to visit someone from my neck of the woods. :)

Hi Brenda
Thanks for your comments on my Ultra Raglan, couldn't find an email contact so thought I'd leave a comment here instead.
I love the texture of that shawl, beautiful grey too. How was the Ultra Alapca? (more ultras!) I've just ordered some.
